Volunteer

Every year, more than 300 people dedicate what hours they can to help ensure the traditions, values, facilities and programs of the non-profit Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society continue to play an important role in their community. They are volunteers, and without them, the programs and events you’ve come to enjoy through the years and where the next generation will be nurtured, might not exist.

If you can spare time or expertise to give back to your community in any capacity, we would love to hear from you. If you know of a friend in your circle who might want to help, please mention us. We appreciate your new or continued committment to MRAS.

Our phone number is 403-931-3411 or our e-mail is office@millarvilleracetrack.com

Course Marshal –
From Black Diamond, to Turner Valley, to MRAS. Among the most important of positions among our volunteer crew. Time committments vary between an hour in the early morning to several hours later in the morning, but everyone is done by 11 a.m.  A course marshall is typically positioned at a turn or intersection and ensures runners know the direction they should be going while keeping the route clear of obstacles.  And you are a primary cheerleader and occasional hugger. Expect runners to say “thank you” a lot.

Water Stations –
there are six water stations, positioned every three KM. Mixing gatorade and handing out cups of liquids to runners. Lots of cheering. Wear a cowboy hat!

Finish Area Crew –
various tasks including course marshalls, assisting the timing crew, helping with the food tent, handing out medals to runners, assisting with information, set-up and take-down. Positions range from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

Participant Bag Check –
Pre-Race and Post-Race, runners may want to “check” an item like a sweater into our care at Black Diamond and pick it up at the Racetrack at the end of the Race.  You’ll be there to take it in, transport it and hand it back via a number/bag system.
