s the Manager of the Millarville Farmers' Market Manager, I am excited to welcome you to the wonderful world of local food, farmers, artists, food artisans, musicians and volunteers. Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning, the Millarville Racetrack transforms in a matter of hours into the Millarville Farmers' Market. The previous week had seen farmers farming, growers growing, bakers baking, food artisans cooking and artists creating. Everyone then loaded up their trucks, trailers, cars, vans and arrived en masse on Saturday morning, some starting as early as 5 am, jammed to the top with product. Finding their location, setting up their tents, displays and signs, then getting a coffee, taking a breath and preparing for the visitors streaming through the gate starting at 9:00am. The people behind the tables at the Millarville Farmers' market are the real deal. They are the growers, farmers, makers, bakers, and artists. Ask them about their farm, their art, their love of what they do. I will also let you in on a secret…rainy days are awesome days to come here. Wear your rubber boots and rain coat. It's not as busy, vendors have time to talk and we all pull together to have a great time no matter the weather.
The market hours are now longer - 9am-2pm. We wanted to give you the chance to enjoy your drive out, see the market, enjoy breakfast or lunch, and try our exclusive Millarville Ice Cream. Bring your summer guests and visiting relatives. They'll love it. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside, other cool things to do and the two great small towns of Black Diamond, Turner Valley just down the road. Stay awhile, come back often.
We are hosted by the non-profit Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society which has more than 100 members and an additional 300 volunteers providing thousands of hours of time in ensuring our century-old Society can maintain a focal point for their community, the Millarville Racetrack. We support many community clubs and youth groups, including 4H, and our facilities are rented for weddings, funerals, reunions and parties. We also host three major historic events, including the 106th Annual Millarville Races on Canada Day, the 15th Annual Millarville Rodeo August 5-7, and the 104th Annual Priddis & Millarville Fair, August 20. As a non-profit facility supported and operated primarily through donations, grants and volunteers we appreciate your support.
See you at the Market!
